I have curly hair and always straighten it. I'd like to leave it curly sometimes but it gets super frizzy. Does any have product advice for curly hair?

Does racism still exist?

I was so upset to hear that some parents didn't let them hear Obama's speech. I think that is just a sign of racism. I think it is sad that any American wouldn't want their kids to hear the president…Continue

Alicia replied to Alyssa's discussion Does racism still exist?
"I like to think that it doesn't, but then I hear about hate crimes and really racist comments and it makes me realize that it still exists. I think we've come a long way, but we still have a long way to go."

Celeb Rehab

I was flipping through the channels and found the celeb rehab show on vh1. It is a reality show about celebrities who are addicted to drugs and alcohol and go into rehab. Dr. Drew is their counselor and helps them recover from their addictions. The rehab has several former celebrities including an NBA basket ball player, country music star, actors, reality show characters and rock musicians. The show covers how addicts suffer from drugs. We see them in tabloids partying it up getting high and…See More

Feliz Navidad

The holiday season means lots of family get togethers and tons of food. Earlier in December, we started getting into the holiday spirit when we celebrate the Virgin Mary on the Dia de la Virgin on the 12th. My mom always goes all out with decorating the house with a tree, wreath, nativity scene, and lots of Christmas decorations. We also went to a pastorela at a local cultural center. This is a musical that tells the story of shepherds on their journey to Bethlehem to meet Mary & Joseph and…See More

Giving Thanks

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to give thanks for some people in my life that I can always count on. I give thanks for my mom. She is a single mom and works hard to provide for our family. My aunt because she is someone I trust and I can turn to if I have problems. My friends because they are always there to make me laugh and we can talk about anything. Happy Thanksgiving!

Keep PE

I think physical education is an important part of school. My school has cut down on the time for PE and think we should keep it. I was watching a show with people that were morbidly obese and found out that it is a growing problem in our country. These people were seriously eating themselves to death. I think having classes like PE helps promote a healthy lifestyle and encourages people to get active. As girls we aren't always encouraged to play sports, but this is a good way to explore…See More
