The school year is winding down and moving closer and closer to my graduation from college. I spent the last four years at the University of Texas at Austin, and I have so much to be thankful for. Just becoming the first woman president of the United States is a huge milestone in itself. It is a milestone for women but all of society as well. It’s no secret that women still aren’t treated equally in the US, and it’s time for something to change.

I moved to Austin four years ago for college. I came from a small town so everything seemed busy and exciting. I visited the state capitol for the first time and all of the other tourist sites. Studying in Austin was a dream come true. It’s a dream that I’m still living every day. And while most days I wake up and love where I am, other days I get another feeling—homesickness.
