The Language of Flowers

Hello! So I'm reading this book called "The Language of Flowers" by Vanessa Diffenbaugh (she has the same first name as me!), and it introduced me to the fun, kind-of-forgotten "flower code" (also known as floriography). Flowers have a language of their own, expressing a sentiment in one form or another. I think it's a very cute and unique code that almost has a certain magic to it, a wordless language that is expressed through nature's beauty.       The language of flowers has been…See More

"Haha thanks! I feel like I'm drowning in homework, and I'm only in high school, so I can't imagine what the college workload is going to be like. Is it hard, transitioning from high school to college?"

"Wow...that must have been terrifying. I had a friend who just barely survived from a car crash and they described their life flashing before their eyes too. It's great that everything turned out okay!"

Easter Snack

So Easter is coming up and I found a cute snack! These bites are really easy to make, taste good (in my opinion), and look elegantly simple. They look pretty enough for a party and are easy enough to make for a quick snack. These are crackers topped with strawberry yogurt and halved strawberry slices, but you can substitute the strawberries for another fruit like blackberries or kiwis. The…See More

"This post helped me a lot! I have quite a few friends who have ADHD, and I've never really understood it. But it makes sense that people with ADHD cannot shut off their need for stimulation, and for me it shed a new light on things :3"

(Blog-a-thon) Crying: Myth vs Reality

March 7th (Friday) Myth vs Reality: What advice do you wish someone would have told you when you were 13 years old?I’m only fourteen, so it hasn't been that long at all since I was thirteen. It’s funny, though, how so much can happen in less than one year, because if I had a time machine I would definitely have something to tell my thirteen-year-old self. It was something that I struggled a lot with during middle school: it was the question of whether or not it was okay to cry. Throughout…See More

"How do I directly reply to others? (I'm technologically challenged haha). Anyway, I completely agree with Miss Jasmine :3 I should've made that clearer and expanded on that. There IS a difference between honesty and rudeness. Thank you,…"

Hair and Honesty

Once my friend came to school with hair that looked like it had been cut with a weedwhacker. She came up to me, with that modern-art-looking hairdo, and asked what I thought about her hair. I smiled and said it looked great! Then she came up to another friend, a girl I'll call Allie, and asked the same question. Allie looked at the hair in obvious horror. "Fix it. It looks terrifying."      Allie's answer (though a bit rude) made me think. We say a million small lies every day (exaggeration,…See More

Mi madre

March 6th (Thursday) Growing up, how did the women in your family influence you (academically, professionally, socially, etc.)? What did they pass on?

For this blog-a-thon topic I'll talk about my mom, the woman whom (or is it “who”?) I love the most in my life! She’s such an amazing woman; I’ve never seen anyone work harder than her. She’s the founder and director of a Spanish immersion preschool, and when I watch her work there I…
