As we approach Selena Quintanilla's passin by the founder of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar,  let us not forget her as an inspirational chicana, or would you ladies prefer the term, LATINA, who embarked on a singing career by performing music in Spanish.

She became a star as lead singer of her father's band…

Snowing during Spring?!

I woke up this morning with a bad case of the sniffles. It felt a little chilly and much to my surpise and dread I saw snow falling outside my dorm room window. "Oh geez, groundhound day was a week ago?! No snow please!," I thought.

Frankly, I am far too scared to admit it to my classmates here in the northeast, but not so much to my Latina other halves, but I am terribly freightened that the world is coming to an end.

I am not sure about everyone else, but my mother grew up on…

Interning for Latinitas

It's great that I get to become an intern for Latinitas, but I feel the pressure already.

I have 5 courses this semester and this internship to take care of. How do you all work with managing time?

Is it just me or do I feel like its impossible to complete so many tasks before the end of the semester?

I feel the pressure. Please, I need all the support I can get!

I want to be honest, as old as I am I often feel like that nerdy 13 year old girl from 7th grade, but hearing everyone's story…

Let's stop comparing: Something that is easier said than done.

Let's face it: Everyone compares.

It's when we compare and judge ourselves so harshly that it begins to affect our self-esteem. True, I've done it far more often during my early teen years, but I notice it never stops. I am 24 and still comparing myself to others that I feel I will never match up to. I compare my grades, my clothes, my choice of music and my style preferences.

This is when I have to stop this negative train of thought and breathe. I need a moment of reflection…
