Is a lower wage fair?

While skimming through my senior guide the other day in my counselors office I came across a page that had a list of wages based on your education level. It made sense that a person with a lower education got payed less than someone with a higher education level, but what didn't make sense was that a female with the same amount of education as a male got payed less every single time!

I couldn't believe this I knew women had faced discrimination for many years but I had figured that by now… Continue

Teens in the Media!

As girls at times we get extremely caught up in the things we see on tv and especially in all the drama we hear about our favorite stars, but is the message they send us teens always a good one?

Recently the media was raving about Justin Beiber allegedly hitting a 12 year old boy, is it true? well we're still not completely sure but it's crazy to hear something like this about the guy girls are crazy about and the one some younger boys really look up to. What message is Justin really…

Prepared for College

For a lot of us seniors we can't wait to graduate and well others whish we still had another year. I had always thought a lot about my college plans and I always took initiative when it came to finding information, but for a while now i've been wishing that maybe I could have a little more time.

As seniors we're swamped with making the best out of our grades, joining as many clubs as possible, applying for colleges and trying to attend all of our last high school events, but at times…

One Of The Guys

So we've all heard of the term one of the guys right? Well the other day a friend was talking about how in her drivers ed class a boy was upset that he was missing the baseball game due to their class, so when he sat down she turned around and told him what the score was, and where the players were currently positioned and just about all you would possibly want to know about the game. The boy in her class was extremely surprised to hear that she knew so much information and that she actually…

Great Help :)

For school we recenlty started this fundraiser for kids in third world countries who couldnt't afford school supplies. The fundraiser is called UNICEF and it takes place during the month of October. The fundraiser was a bit tedious because we had to go around practically begging students to donate change to fill little halloween themed boxes. At first I was etremely excited to be doing this community service project but then I found out something great that inspired me even more!

As I…

A stand against bullying

In many recent stories and reports, bullying amongst teens has become a huge deal, and there's a lot we can do to put a stop to it, but many teens won't stand against bullying. As teens we don't always realize when we are bullying but we do it quite often, when we talk about the way someone looks, talks, or maybe just who they are in general we are bullying and it can be extremely painful.

I remember a time when one of my friends was constantly being bullied and made fun. She was the…

Natural Disasters

Three Arizona tornadoes took the people by storm early wednesday morning. Many weren't sure what had just happened and feared what could possibly happen next. Natural disaster are terrifying and impossible to stop, but there are things that we can do to help. Imagine a girl your age she's ready for another day of school the night before and as she goes to sleep the only worries on her mind are a test in physics the upcoming school audition or a volley ball against their school rivals, never… Continue

Senior Year!

Senior year is here, it's the year we all have been waiting for since we could understand the concept of school. All the hard work is done and it's all about PARTIES! PARTIES! PARTIES! right? Well not exactly, yes of course senior year is supposed to be fun but if we let ourselves gat caught up in the mix of the fun it can really throw off all the plans we've made prior to this school year.

Applying for colleges is extremely intimidating, recieving…

I've claimed him!

It seems as though the total buzz and the couple that everyone wants to be a part of is centered around the Twilight's series Edward and Bella, but is this teenage romance really sending out the right message to teens in their own relationships? In the popular vampire films, Bella desperately wants Edward to bite her to turn her into a vampire for all eternity. For vampires that might work but in reality if you bite your boyfriend nothing special is going to happen, but you might leave a mark.… Continue
