Today is my last day as a Latinitas intern. Sad, sad day.
My life as an intern was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned more about the non-profit world and how it works. I learned that making a non-profit successful is all about team work. Not one person can do it alone -- you need an army of wonderful people to make it work.
I enjoyed being surrounded by wonderful, energized people who were happy on making a difference. Everyone was so nice, friendly and full of smiles. I am so happy that I had the chance to meet so many great people who love making such a huge difference and working for Latinitas.
I learned so much too. I learned about magazine writing, photography and on other forms of media. As an aspiring journalist (as well as getting a Bridging Discipline Program Certificate in Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship), I was able to make use of my education.
I'm going to miss being an intern, but the great thing is that I will continue being a part of Latinitas. I want to take part of something amazing that is making a difference. The best thing is that they are making a difference for Latina youth whose shoes I once filled. It's nice knowing that Latinitas is helping these girls realize their potential.
I'm also grateful to be able to network with wonderful people that I didn't think I was able to network with. I am happy to know that there are other people supporting this great non-profit.
And a special thanks to Sam and Laura. Y'all were amazing this semester. Thanks for being great people and now friends. Just to let you know, I will be continuing helping out whenever I can. Just ask and I'll try to be there. You are not getting rid of me that easily. :)
