Have you ever thought about the kind car you want or if you even want a car? I came across an interesting article on Yahoo that mentions how generation Yers are not caring too much about owning a vehicle, the article says “They’re likely to see autos as a source of pollution, not a sex or status symbol.” I think this an interesting point because I do think that cars are great contributors to our polluted world and although I own a car, it does not in any way symbolize my status let alone my sexual representation. I simply own a vehicle because I need it and that’s it.
The article also mentions how much of this generation, as opposed to their elders, are using other options to commute and are more concerned with spending money on new technological gadgets. Living in El Paso, TX where public transportation isn’t as easily accessible as it is in other towns, having a automobile is a must, but I would most certainly love to not have budget myself to make monthly payments on my car, my insurance and my gas.
Like myself, most of you are also generation Yers, so what do you think? Are cars not as important as they used to be?
