Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

Christmas Traditions and New Year's Resolutions

Christmas is a big thing for my family. Every year we have a big Christmas Eve dinner and New Year's Eve party. Though Christmas Day is very important we usually have our celebration on Christmas Eve and extend it past midnight. We all get together at my aunt's house and eat her Christmas ham, tamales, and chapurrado. We usually play card games or karaoke until midnight. At midnight we all open gifts, and have dessert after. For New Year's Eve we all go back to my aunt's house and have pozole, and pretty much just hang out and play loteria until midnight. At midnight we all eat grapes and drink sparkling apple cider. Every year is an opportunity to challenge yourself in many ways, and to create new goals that you would like to achieve. I hope that this year I can be more organized to make it easier to keep track of everything for school. I'm also hoping to become more active, because it really helps improve your health. I already enjoy running a few times a week, but I really want to try out new things like maybe a dance class. Here's to a wonderfully fun 2010!
