Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

The "Calçotada" is a typical gastronomic festival of the western region of Catalonia (Spain) that is celebrated in late winter and early spring. The calçots (spring onion) are especially cultivated for this feast and are roasted directly over the flames and are eaten by hand sipped un a special seasoned sauce called la salvitxada. Los calçots are also accompanied with typical roasted meats and sausages for the main course.

This was definitely a true Catalan experience. Set in a beautiful restaurant in a rural town in the middle of the mountains near Tarragona. We ate the Calçots outdoors while wearing bibs on long wooden tables! In a way you can say this is the Catalan version of a Thanksgiving meal. It is all about bringing everyone together, eating delicious food and enjoying each others company.
