I am currently writing to you from the undergraduate (also happens to be UNDERground) quiet study room at Van Pelt Library. VP has been my home since last wednesday when readings days began. I won't talk about the stress, sleepless nights (although I did see the sunrise for the first time) and stacked coffee cups because anyone who has ever studied for a final already knows the drill but, I do want to share with you three things I have learned from finals week.
1. It is okay to reward yourself with whole milk -- I only drink coffee if its a latte because I am not a huge fan of the coffee taste but, its effects are undeniably magical so I have it anyways. This week I decided to skip on my usually skim milk latte and treat myself to some whole milk:O I am not suggesting you skip out on all your healthy habits but do find something to reward yourself with, YOU deserve it!
2. The right song can make all the difference -- When I have been reading for hours and I find myself getting a bit bored/distracted/sleepy, listening to music is the perfect fix. Just to keep things fresh I pick a new song every day, this is my study boost song for today: Marc Anthony - Vivir Mi Vida
WARNING: Make sure that your study boost song is actually a spirit booster and not some sad romantic ballad that makes you think about people you should not be thinking about...pick something that makes you want to jump out of your chair and dance! (Click on the link above for an example of what makes ME want to Scream and Shout and let it all out.
3. Study hard but don't forget to smile -- A smile can make everything a little bit better and that little bit means even more when it's 2:00am and we are still at the library needing all the moral support we can get :)
