Global Youth Service Day

Last month the Alvarez club and I whipped up a couple ideas on how to make El Paso a better place, in honor of Global youth service day. Global Youth Service day is an annual campaign celebrating and getting millions of children and youth into wanting to improve their communities through some kind of community service or service learning. The girls addressed their community's most important issues and tried to get their schools and families involved. Some ways to solve issues that the girls came up with were to:

Recycle, clean up parks, save food and water, give toys to kids, give food to poor people, plant some trees and plants, help children with their problems, take care of animals that are in danger of becoming extinct, use less gasoline/car, help kids with cancer, more street lights.

For our project we decided to hold a book and toy drive and donate what we collected to the Child Crisis Center. We made posters and flyers to put around school and the Everette Alvarez office. Our second meeting about the Global youth service day we made our Public Service Announcement, we made a video letting the public know our cause and what we planned to do. Then we waited for everyone to collect.
