LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

It's great that I get to become an intern for Latinitas, but I feel the pressure already.

 

I have 5 courses this semester and this internship to take care of. How do you all work with managing time?

 

Is it just me or do I feel like its impossible to complete so many tasks before the end of the semester?

I feel the pressure. Please, I need all the support I can get!

@Kimberly: Thanks for the support. I'm glad you gals are behind me!

@Arleen: It just has to get done. I do not want to jeapordize this wonderful oppurtunity for laziness. I thought I was the only one having trouble with time management. Geez, at least I know I am not alone. Thank you, thank, thank you!  You can do it!

@Laura: Your method makes sense. I will mos def reward myself and thank you.

I totally understand how you feel. While I was interning for Latinitas last semester, I also had a part-time job, took 12 hours and was involved in 4 extra curricular orgs that require so much time. One tip is to prioritize everything, schedule stuff on planners and take breaks to release stress. :) You can do it!

Something that works for is setting goals. For example,if I finish reading a certain amount of pages I let myself use my phone, get a snack or listen to a song on youtube etc.. Hope this helps!

I totally feel ya on this one. I'm currently dealing with the same pressures. Mypost about asking for help addresses this a bit. 
I'm not very good at time management... I started watching The Walking Dead a few days ago, and my productivity level has dropped drastically! lol 
I often find myself panicking in the face of a deadline, but what's funny is that I know that no matter how much I procrastinate, the work will get done. Even if it means pulling an all-nighter. Not all of us are time-management wizards, and that's ok! We all work differently. If you find that you are super stressed and you can't be productive no matter what, take a moment for yourself. Watch an hour of TV. Read a book for fun. Take a walk. Exercise. And then get right back to it. It's easy to feel like if we don't do something it will be the end of the world, but that's not true. Ask for help if you need it, and remember to take care of yourself first. More importantly, remember you are not alone!

I guess a good time management tip is to set rewards for yourself. "If I get this done, I can go out with friends." And also remember that it's better to take breaks between or during tasks. It actually helps keep you focused. For example, if you're working on a paper and you feel overly-stressed or have writer's block, do something else for a bit, and then go back to it when your head is a little cleared. Taking small breaks throughout your work helps keep you productive.
