It's been two days since I graduated and I feel better than last times post.
It could be because I am still in my internship stages. I love interning with Latinitas, very much so. I love the whole communication process even if it is through email or social networks.
As sad as I was about leaving the students that I tutored, I am sure I left them a strong and positive impression of our relationship. Their attempts to read to me and complete their homework show me so much of their potential to learn and grow.
I am proud to say I am now a Wilson alumnae. So so happy that I finished. So glad that it is over too! I survived at coma at age 15 and as much as doctors and nurses told my mom that I will wake only to live to be a vegetable, I am here, now, fully alive. I made a poem about that experience here:
Light
I survived a dark world
Some will say
There were no sounds, just the echo of
The thump, slam, swish of the bed moving around
It was not how others described it
It was not so
There was light at the end
I remember, like it was yesterday
…
I wake
I fear
My finger positioned to takeAnything, when suddenly WHAM!
It just so happens that I waken
With a jolt, but
My eyes cautiously open
Everything is like a trace of childhood
There are numerous books on display,
Crayons galore and sweets
by the bedside lamp
I see Mother and brother
They are crying
Where am I?
How did I get here? I ask
They say I survived a coma
Oh me. Oh my.
Survived?
If it’s true then hope exists
I live, I breathe
And most definitely am alive
My fingers grasp the feel of air
I experience a keen sense of eyesight
Everything is blurred then straight
I made it
I am especially thank you for the continued support of my seven sisters, six brothers and my mother, for believing in me, despite the negativity. I also congratulate two of my younger sisters and one older sister for also graduating high school and college of this year.
