Have you heard the Relay story? If you haven't, hear it now!
Now, why do I relay? I relay to help those who can’t, to help find a cure. Cancer cannot keep taking away the lives of innocent people. Relay for life is a 24 hour event. Because cancer never stops, why should we, right? I created a team for the members of my club at school. On this team, I also have friends and family.
This is my first time participating and I am so excited. I look forward to sharing this experience with my mom, a two time cancer survivor. Her last cancer diagnosis was in December 2012. My mom has one more Chemo to go (This Friday May 3!) I have hope that this will be the last one my mom will ever need. I want this experience to show my mom how proud I am of her battle.
Relay for Life has onsite fundraisers and my goal is to raise $200 during this 24hr period. I will be selling tamales, and hair bows. My friends and I will be having a wedding chapel for people to get married vegas style. We will also be selling Track-Your-Lap bracelets, where people can buy an empty bracelet and each time they walk a lap and pass our tent, they can pick up a free bead. As a lap on the track is 1/4 of a mile, four beads shows they have walked a mile. At the end of the event they will have a souvenir of how much they walked at this event.
There are many Relays held all around the US. Relay is American Cancer Society’s biggest fundraiser. Go to Relayforlife.org and find an event near you.
