Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

Las Fallas de Valencia is a festival with strong cultural traditions of the city of Valencia held from the 15 to the 19 of March celebrated in honor of St. Josep, the patron saint of carpenters. The term Falla (Falles in Valenciano) refers to both the celebration and the monuments that are created during the celebration. The five days and nights of las Fallas are a continuos celebration filled with a multitude of processions: historical, religious and comedic. Explosions can be heard throughout the day. On the final night of las Fallas the fallas are burnt as huge bonfires also known as the cremà (the burning), the reason why the constructions are called Falles ("Torches").

It was a quick getaway that a couple of friends and I went on to enjoy the celebration. It is a feast that one must definitely experience at least once in their life. While on this trip I also realized that Horchata originates from Spain! Had my favorite Palla Valenciana and realized that the costume designer for the Star Wars movies was more than likely inspired by the Falleras outfit and hair style. Road trips are super fun!
