Congratulations! You blow out your 13 birthday candles and you are officialy a teenager! Welcome to moody attitudes, self-consious mornings, and the attraction to certain people. The biggest things that will follow and pressure you are society's hidden ideas of perfection in it's media. These ideas will be seen and heard everywhere! Movies, magazines, and television are the motherbases of these opinions. They will brainwash you into changing your style, face, and personality! It sounds insane and you probably think it won't happen to you, but belive it or not, it happens to everyone!
Primarily, the most common idea of a certain age, race, gender, or style is molded as one person. One person will represent what beauty is, another will represent what ugly is and these molds will be copied and used in the everyday media and imprinted in our brains; causing us to compare and, eventually, copy also.
How do you protect yourself? Before you let the media decide what "cool" is, make your own opinion. Do research! Those pretty girls you see in those magazine adds aren't always what they seem! Yes they're beautiful, but they are also doctored into society's media mold. What you should see is not the girl's face or body but rather her amazing talent of playing the tuba or dancing or writing! Everyone has a talent to match their beauty, and everyone is beautiful. Yes, that chiche saying "its what's on the inside that counts" is 100% true! Don't follow that ONE modle of "perfection", make your own personl modle and accept everyone elses individuality.
Wlcome to being a teenager! You will embrace your beauty, create new talents, and ignore anyone who tells you otherwise!
