“Mother is the
name for God in the lips and hearts of children“
- William Makepeace Thackeray
Courage, Leadership, Strength, Perseverance, and Wisdom… My mother is all of
this and more. My mom is all I have, and has shown through many
instances that, she is all I need. My mom has always wanted the best
and done everything in her capability and beyond to attain so.
Throughout my fifteen years, she’s been there for me. As a single
parent, raising me on her own always had its’ rough patches, and
ups and downs. Nevertheless, through everything she was there, to
provide comfort, support, understanding, and her indomitable,
Throughout the years, our relationships has gone through its’ changes, and has
blossomed. From helping her four year old get dressed, to helping her
ten year old with homework, to helping her young lady pick out a
dress for her upcoming quinceñeara. Our relationship, though has
undergone its’ changes, has flourished, and formed the strongest
My strength, courage, and wisdom. . . My mom has never had a weak side.
Through the never ending struggles we’ve been through; the tears,
and frustrations, in those times most would be vulnerable, she
provided strength for us both, and has pulled us through anything. My
courageous mom, has always done what’s right, protected both her
and myself, and shown me to be the equivalent. My wise mom, has
always known what to say, what to change, and known the difference
when change is impossible.
Selflessness has been yet the most prevailing quality in this magnificent woman.
Putting myself and others before her, in every instance. I know this
to be the most fundamental quality in any mother, yet this quality
stronger in mine. Throughout our financial lows, I noticed her
clothes “got bigger” in order to ensure I had enough to eat.
With everything she has done for me and she is everything to me. There is
never a day that I don’t hear “I love you”, and there’s never
been, and never will be a day where I won’t say it back. From the
moment I was born, until my last breath I know that my mother will
always be there for me. Though we may not be together physically,
she’s always in my heart.
