Sad news about this month is we have said goodbye to one of the most outstanding singers of Mexico chicas. Juan Gabriel represents not only Mexican culture but Latin American culture. His songs and trajectory as a Mexican artist have made him Hijo Prodigo de Ciudad Juarez.
This tragic event happened few hours before Juanga was appointed to perform at the Don Haskins Center. There were families who heard about the rumor and didn't believe it until concert was cancelled and anuncios were put outside for people to see the message. Reasons were not questioned because everyone knew what had happened, but never believed it.
Since this missafortunate event happened, tributes from artists all over America have been made. The house of the divo has been added with floral gifts, letters, and even teddy bears to show fan's pesame. The biggest of these events was scheduled this past September 3rd at Juarez when more than 70,000 people reunited to be present at Homenaje a Juan Gabriel: Ultima Despedida. By this time, Juan Gabriel was already cremated and his cenizas were to be put at his house after the mass was over.
After this event, the rests of Juan Gabriel traveled all over to the middle of La Republica in Mexico D.F. to be present at the second biggest tribute at Palacio de Bellas Artes. Performers such as Aida Curvas, Daniela Romo and Fernando de la Mora were present to remind the public with some of the Juanga's most known songs such as "Amor eterno", "Hasta que te conoci" and "Querida."
Without doubt this great artist will be remembered as one of the many who put Mexican music into the spotlight of the entire world. Many Mexican people, specially juarenses, resent his death and cry along with the family of Juanga. He has marked a lot of people's hearts with his music and has set a new era for Mexican artists to come.
Juanga, as a juarense, I can tell you I am a witness of how my community está de luto because of you. You have been one of our most adorable sons this earth has seen and one of the most talented as well. I applaud your courage, enthusiasm, and love for this frontera. I can assure you my family wouldn't be the same without the example of caring throughout all of your songs. Thank you for such loving career and devotion for Ciudad Juarez.
