My sHERO is Maria Vasquez: MY MOM!
She's always been there for me and this woman is amazing. She's done so much for me and I love her for it. She's the
reason why I'm striving and have gotten this far in life. I learned so much from her about being an individual and an independent woman! I can honestly say that the primary reason I admire this woman is because she's been through so much and has never settled for less. My mom is from Mexico and she moved to Laredo, Texas so my brothers and I could have better opportunities as U.S. citizens.
I'm my mother's only daughter and I would say that makes our bond a lot stronger. She was the only female role model I had growing up and I couldn't have asked for a better one. Even today, my mom plays an important role as I try to sort out my life after college.
It's sad that I don't get to see her very often since I'm in Austin for school. However, the times I do get to go home are spent with my mom all day. It's the simple things with her that make my day and cheer me up. Sometimes, all we do is cuddle up and watch tv and it's perfect.
My mom has been supporting me since my dad passed away almost 7 years ago. I admire her for always keeping it together for the family despite our tragedy.
I know that she's a strong woman, putting me and my brothers before her. It's an admirable trait that I am proud to have inherited. Liker her, I learned to succeed above the worst and remain strong, independent and compassionate. She really is my sHERO.
