Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

I'm a junior and I know I want to go to college to help my future. None of my family has gone to college before. Does anyone have any tips to help with the college process? Scholarships?? Links??

Hey, congrats on setting your mind on going to college even though you are the first in your family. The first step i think you should consider is figuring out what you want to study in order to get the career you like best. Then you look at schools that have the most to offer you in that field of study, example: if you want to be an engineer you shouldn't go to a school that is known for their Med. school. Then you also should decide how far away from home you want to go. In the summer you should visit some of your top schools, it lets you see the environment and you can see if you will like it there or not. Suggestion look at virtual tour online to see if you like the school before taking the time to go. When you start your senior year, make sure to apply early admission, you will have a better shot at getting in to your top schools. As of Scholarships, most school webpage’s have links, and another good site i like a lot is Fast web. Good luck!!! and have fun =)
