Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

I was researching a bit and wanted to hear some opinions on what feminism means to you and if you are a feminist?

What do you think?

Do you think feminism still exists?

Feminism certainly exists. There are several "waves" of feminism, as they are called, that correspond with different eras and fights. However, I generally consider myself a womanist to disassociate with the mainly white, upper middle class focus of Western feminism. Likewise, in calling myself a womanist I steer clear of the male bashing tendencies of some, especially earlier, waves. What I find disturbing about male bashing among SOME feminists is the utter denial of how women, as mothers, sisters, lovers, etc., likewise contribute to the socialization of men, and enable certain behaviors. By being a womanist I acknowledge the dynamic nature of gender relations, and understand that feminism is not one size fits all, but rather has significant cultural implications.
To me this means having pride in being a woman, and demanding respect for my equal status in all areas of life.
