A good night of sleep

It's been a while since I've written anything in here but the thing is yesterday I had an anxiety meltdown, I don't know where are things in my life going, and I thought well maybe I'm not the only one going through this and so I decided to share it. I’ve always been an over thinker, I knew what I wanted to do with my life since I was 12, with this I don’t mean that my plans are exactly the same from back then, I mean I like planning things, and when things don’t go as expected I freak out, so…See More

Abel Baca and his Coffee Box

He is the co-owner of the Coffee Box, a local coffee shop. But you might not guess that by looking at Abel Baca, as he makes small talk with the barista, cleans the counter and seats his customers.Located between Mesa and Main Street, the eye- catching post-modern structure of co-joined train cars sits at a perfect location in downtown El Paso. The Coffee Box is surrounded by three of the…See More

Transfer International

I think the title sums it all up.I was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico a border city right next to El Paso, Texas so it was easy to decide where to go to college, I just apply to UTEP and I've been there for a year a half but for a while now I've thinking on transferring and of course the idea sounds great, being in a bigger city, in a college I like better, living by myself or with friends but now that I've been accepted I'm thinking of how scary it actually is because I will be in a…See More

Ayotzinapa

Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, Mexico became a trending topic around the world. Sadly, it was because of a mistreated political issue. It wasn't more than a year ago that President Enrique Pena Nieto was in the cover of Time Magazine with the phrase "Saving Mexico". This belief didn't last long, specially now that the whole controversy is a public issue.Everything unleashed last September 26,2014 when 43 students from Ayotzinapa, Guerrero were kidnapped and taken in buses. After that, they were never…See More

Spotlight on a Latina feminist: Sandra Cisneros

If you checked any kind of social media today, I’m sure you saw or at least read the title of the most popular topic today: Emma’s Watson UN speech about gender equality. And if you didn’t well I’m going to write for you my favorite part(s): “Men, I would like to take this opportunity to extend you a formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too… I've seen young men suffering from mental illness, unable to ask for help, for fear it would make them less of a man…We don't want to talk…See More

My 5 top hispanic romantic comedy recomendations

I started out this blog writing my 5 top romantic comedies, but after seeing that most of them were American movies I though, that since I'm writing on Latinitas I should write about my top 5 Hispanic movies, I don't know why but we tend to forget about those, so here it goes.El cielo en tu mirada: This is the story of second chances, Pepe (Mane De La Parra) a young musician who is about to participate in the Festival de la Canción Latinoamérica meets Abril (Aislinn Derbez) a girl that is about…See More

Thoughts on being First Generation College Student

I can’t say I had a difficult childhood everything was so easy for me, I went to a great private school in my hometown, I took as many extracurricular classes as I wanted and I didn't start working until recently. But my parents had it so different; my dad had to start working when he was 5 years old to support his mother and 4 sisters, he did this by selling copies of a comic book, selling candy on the streets and cleaning shoes, later by the age of 15 he started working in a boot factory,…See More
