Outraged! At Immigration Law

United States is a land of immigrants. The only native people to this country are the Native Americans and we have even managed to put them in reservations and they are more like outsiders than natives. What type of country are we creating? A country where I can be stopped because I look hispanic (well duh! I am mexican)and if i don't carry a birth certificate i can be arrested and probably deported. It seems like we are going backwards! What happened to civil rights? Or better yet, what… Continue

According to Family Education, "The American Academy of Pediatrics, reporting on a survey of 5th- through 12th-grade girls, found… Continue

Latinos in Hollywood

By now I'm sure everyone has heard of the television show Glee. I myself am a self-described Gleek and proud of it. I love musicals and I love the humor. (I wish the cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester played by Jane Lynch would insult me sometimes. That's how much I love

Glee for (There's a lot, trust me. Lea Michele singing is enough.), there's something that…

Tormented Among the World of Men….

So over the weekend, I was watching ESPN, sports movies, and of course the NBA playoffs and I have to realize that in the athletic world MEN are in complete power. Now don’t start to assume that this blog post is to bash on men and make them feel not worthy to exist. Instead, this post is to have women become more aware of how much we put up with while living in a man’s world. With this said, let…

The Real First Thanksgiving

Most people think of pilgrims from England and Native Americans on the Plymouth Rock when they think of the First Thanksgiving in November of 1621. But, the real first Thanksgiving took place along the U.S./Mexico border in San Elizario, Texas with the Spanish in 1598. In April, a celebration takes place in San Elizario to honor this nation's true First Thanksgiving. This event commemorates when Spanish settlers with…

Donation Day!!

Today Claudia and I took donations to La Posada Home. Our Latinitas dug deep in their pockets to buy and gather clothes and stuff for the women who live at the Home. We had a crib, huge canned food, about 5 trash bags of clothes, cereals, snacks, hygiene products and even a baby seat. We had a whole truck load! It was awesome. We went in, took a tour and saw that everything we collected I’m sure…

Ch: 9 Lessons to be Learned....(Profe says...)

As semester starts to wind down and come to an end, professors all over University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) start to get ready on grading all these upcoming assignments. Ths past week I spoke to my professor and we had discussed some tips that can help college and high school students with these assignments.

Latinitas Las Cruces

This past Saturday April 17 I started my own Latinitas Club in Las Cruces, it was a hit! We had 4 girls-- Nevaeh, Kayla, Andrea and Kiana. Andrea and Kiana were late but we still had fun introducing ourselves and showing off the awesome pictures my girls took. I am very excited and hopefully we get a lot more girls. Nevaeh and Kayla even helped me recruit girls at Apodaca park later that day. We even had a daycare coordinator ask if I could do a presentation at her daycare to her after school… Continue
