Current Favorites

Hey hey hey!! What's up everyone?! I am in a really good mood right now...for some reason....there's really no reason behind my great mood actually. So anyways, today I decided to do a current favorites blog post. (If you couldn't tell by the title)

So let's get to it!!!

Shall we start with music? Yes I think we shall! My favorite songs at the moment are: Can't Feel My Face by the Weeknd, Dirty Work by Austin Mahone, and (an oldie but a goodie) Zoomin' Zoomin' by Becky G.

McDonald's can harm your health

I think that it's really sad that only in like 3 days the guy already gained 13 pounds from just eating mcdonalds for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Like you could even die from eating to much fat and your blood pressure could rise our heart tightens up. Eating to much fatty food can do a lot of things to your body. I no we all like junk food but sometimes we have to et healthy foods for our health. I can't believe that he ate mcdonalds straight for 30 days. The obesity level has… Continue

The Fiesta!!

When my grandma first got sick, she was sad because she wasn't able to go to Puerto Vallarta. She was sad because she couldn't go to the fiestas there so my grandpa said he would throw her her own fiesta and that's how it all started.

When my grandma passed away, it hit us all really hard. It's been 6 years now, but it's like we were just getting the call yesterday. We all miss her a ton but we know that she wouldn't want us to be sad, she'd want us to be happy and having fun, so that's… Continue

Menopause Makes Women Mad?

I never imagined id be one to write about menopausal mothers, as I would blindly like to forget that my mother has passed through this stage in her life.

My boyfriends’ family is going through what seems like the most difficult time with their mother and her erratic behavior. I am sure it is both her repetitive child like behavior that’s slowly making them feel  as though they are losing their mind. In the 2 years that…

Wasting time or making up for lost time, it feels like things are changing, uncluding myself

At the age of 3 I remember sitting on the sofa and reading the Houston Chronicle, stopping mid-sentence in an effort to pronounce a difficult word down to a tee. No one ever taught me to read, I am sure being an introvert helped me amazingly enough though. Since then, I could remember writing, “April daviLa in slightly tilted letters. My penmanship might have been a little jumpy, but I realized that the sounds of these letters could make people listen. Of course, there was a bit of a knack…

Am I weird or am i strange?

Eccentric behavior is a type of personality to turn heads in both awe and sickness. Today, it seems, it is a trait girls are often pushed into and engraved as anormal  type of behavior that  should and essentially encompass the type of love that  guys yearn for in girls.. This feeling of both needing and later attaining this gets old. Eccentricity is a relationship that is too much of a fight with oneself. As with oneself, the self, the ego always means.…

Back to school in August..

So who else is ready to go back to school in August? I have taken the semester off and I have to say I have missed the late night study sessions and the cramming in homework the night before its due. Although that is not something I recommend, especially since I'm in college. I want to hear about everyone's thoughts and feelings on the upcoming school year. Will you be headed to high school, college, or if your taking some time off. I know here in Florida I will be going through an epic…

Journalism in July experience

I want to tell you guys about the experience I had in this camp. I was there as a counselor and to see all these students that register to learn more about journalism was so great. The camp is basically for high school students pursuing their careers in journalism and the cam in on the month of July just one week. They have the opportunity to stay on the campus dorms, which are amazing, I had never been there and I just got very excited. They also went to the…

Donald Trump

Since Donald Trump first announced his candidacy for president in mid-June, his remarks about Latinos and others have only become worse. As a reminder, in his first speech he made remarks such as:

“When Mexico sends its people, they are not sending their best. They are not sending you. They are not sending you. They are sending people that have lots of problems and they are bringing those problems with us. They are bringing drugs, they are brining crime, they’re rapists, and some I…

Media's Beauty Standards

No matter what we are doing, where we are, or the time of day, we are surrounded by the media’s messages. You could be checking out groceries at the local supermarket when you see the blonde, blue eyed woman on the cover of a magazine or in the car when you hear about the latest weight loss product. The tools that the media utilizes to send out its message about beauty standards can vary from social media to advertisements on a billboard. What you see and hear around you has been…

A Little Bit About Me!!

Hi everyone! My name is Dallas and I'm new here. Today I'm jsut going to tell you a bit about myself. I'm 17 years old from Michigan. This year I am going to be a senior in high school and I'm very excited. My favorite subject in school is English. I want to become a journalist when I am older.

I have one little sister who is 8, a younger brother who is 13, and another brother who is 5. Yes, that means I am the oldest in my family. (Sometimes it's a better thing than others) I am also very… Continue

Bullying Issues Advice Column (Hollywood Camp 2015)

Ever since I had a new friend I have felt bad about not spending as much time with my old friends what should I do to not leave friends out?

  • Try asking her if she would like to hang out with you and your old friends. If she doesn't want to, and only wants to hang out with you, then ask her why she feels that way. Also let your old friends know that you want her to hang out with all of you. If both your old friends and…

La Gordita

I am 100% Dominican. And if you know any Dominicans you know the stereotypes. Big butt, tiny waist, loud, and of course expert bachata dancers. While there are so many amazing aspects of my culture like the passion for music and the pride that Dominicans have there are also many drawbacks. I am expected to have a big butt, tiny waist and also eat a huge plate of arroz con habichuelas y carne. And if I don’t soy exigente.

The expectations I am…
