So today was my first day of college, as in my first day on Austin Community College and it went pretty well, way better than I thought. I would think that I would have a gazillion homework assignments and well I didn't. College so far, is different than high school, you have no idea, teachers are more flexible with assignments, well depending on the teacher and you have a test every month and you can even leave to the restroom without raising your hand! For my first semester I am taking…

I was recently enchanted by a new cartoon character (to me) so Latina, so smart. "Wild Kratts" is a PBS kids cartoon now on Netflix that may be still on general television. It's a cartoon version of two animal experts - the Kratt Brothers who go on adventures researching animals around the world who might be endangered by their environment or man's impact. What was most exciting is their team of scientists who help them become the animals they are researching with special science and…

So I was jammin' out to music as I walked home from a long day with a stroll down the neighborhood, with myself of course. No life?
har har
I had my first encounter with MILEY CYRUS' NEW SONG, "We Can't Stop" and i was beyond confused.
Not because she's growing up and leaving Disney channel behind and in doing so has done everything to take that good girl image out.
I get it, I get it, she's hip and that hair is pretty pimp, but seriously, those sexual innuendos…

The Oakland A's Baseball Team does not quit. That is for certain. Even if a game goes 19 innings (over twice the length of the traditional 9 innings) and plays for over 6-and-a-half hours, they PLAY on. Just ask the visiting team: Los Angeles Angels. Oakland loves "walk-off dramatic wins" in addition to winning streaks (see the movie "Moneyball" starring Brad Pitt). Oakland's 2-game win streak concluded this morning (that's right, Tuesday morning at 1:41 am) with…

I made a friend while in college. Her name is Gris and she is from Mexico.
I recall a white girl commenting on being a "gringa(o)." The way she explained it though made the history behind that explanation seem so wrong.
She explained it in this way, "I know what Gringo means. It means a white cracker."
That is when Gris stepped in and proudly explains the meaning behind such word. She said, "Let me tell you. Gringo is a derivative of the words "green" and "go." When the…

As most of you already know, it can be hard to balance things when you're a student: social life, sleep, and, oh yeah, SCHOOL! It's even harder if you work. I've been there. I've had to juggle so much in my life at times I don't get how I do it. I'll be the first to admit, I go a little crazy and sometimes lose it but I manage. From my years of experience I've compiled a list of tips on how to manage all those things in your life and STILL be fabulous!
1. Be…

Your moves blend in with the water, and when you come close you are stopped by the glass that separates your kind from mine. Delicately you swim closer to me, or away from what angers you, you flare your gills and flare your colors.

So I'm going to continue in the vein of school-related topics for this week's blogs. I started thinking way back to my long-gone middle school days, remembering the dreaded uniforms: We had to wear either blue or white polos with khaki or navy blue bottoms. Eggh an EYESORE even the best of fashionistas at that age couldn't make look good. I certainly couldn't make it look good. It brought me to ponder the question: are uniforms bad or good for schools?
Here are some common top…

Coral's on-point review of Robin Thicke's new summer hit, "Blurred Lines," got me thinking about music and the trouble with catchy songs that happen to be all tied up with terrible messages.
The ipod came onto the market with a bang when I was in middle school along with some not-so-safe websites like Limewire and Napster, and all of a sudden music…

So it's August: back-to-school season. While you're still enjoying what few summer vacation days you have left, you should also be thinking of everything you'll need for the new school year/semester. I'm not talking your typical school supply lists, but beauty/health things to keep us looking and feeling fabulous. Here are my ten back-to-school beauty needs!
1) Sunscreen and Umbrella:

It's easy really, to hate a magazine for what it is promoting.
In a recent issue of Seventeen magazine, I was thrilled, Ariana Grande(oooh Hispanic power) was on the cover, BUT the content inside was very contradictory.
When I was younger,I could enjoy the "horror stories" and "health stories" that they were promoting. This is because they were entertaining and informative.
At the start of the year 2005, things shifted.
Celebrity interviews are now written in a…

*****DISCLOSURE about the following post: This may not be suitable for girls 14 and under. I analyze a very degrading, violent, and sexual song and music video in order to point out why they're wrong and unacceptable. I do not endorse Robin Thicke's song "Blurred Lines" or the music video for the song in any…

I've noticed that my peers and those younger than us have caught onto and practice the make up wearing trend. Girls all over the world are starting to wear makeup on their faces at younger and younger ages. This is reasonable, considering the examples we have out there. With television and the internet incorporating immensely toward how children are growing up, (lets be honest: older generations are also just as influenced by modern media) it's no wonder girls are constantly…
