Although Hispanic Heritage Month technically ended yesterday, I'm always proud to show off my hispanic pride. I'm white complected and most people don't think that I am hispanic, even though I'm 100% Latina. We have a very beautiful culture, full of bright vivid colors and amazing food... my favorite!!!! Growing up in a border town I never saw prejudice or racism towards our race/culture until I left my hometown to attend college. It was a shocking experience as I saw some of my friends get…Continue

A recent video has caused controversy among the Latino community because of this lady, claiming that Trump is an angel and that she and her whole family will vote for him.
To be honest I think that Trump is trying to mock himself and by this he's gaining more popularity, I don't think that the lady really knows who he is and what his ideals are. To me she's just…Continue

El 12 de diciembre.
My grandmother has always been devoted to La Virgen de Guadalupe. Since we were young she taught us her story, her prayers and how much faith she had in her.
I remember loving when December 12 would come around. Buñuelos, calientitos, champurrado, and posole were some of…Continue

My favorite cultural tradition is September 16. I love Mexican food, so I really enjoy this celebration, as well as the dances. I think that this celebration makes people that are far from Mexico get close to their beloved country. The food is so delicious, I love the taquitos, enchiladas,…Continue

I know right? Delicious. My favorite part about my culture is definitely the food. It's what makes me, me. I love it, I worship it! (not really) but it is awesome! The Enchiladas, the tacos, tostadas, the spiciness, flautas, guacamole, and everything in between! When I think of the food, my face transforms into the emoji…Continue

In the media, Latina's are usually portrayed as three sill and flat characters; the chola, the maid, and the home wrecker. The chola, portrays the typical thin eyebrowed, thug girl that goes around low income neighborhoods beating everyone up. With this stereotype, "chola" aesthetic is slandered and ridiculed. The maid represents the cleaning lady that almost every character on TV has taking care of their home and raising their…Continue

Being any race other then white in american basically guarantees you some kind of struggle. Mine was known from a very young age. In my family its common knowledge that i take after my fathers mother. In others words I look more white then I do Mexican. When people find out I am Mexican I usually get these following responses: Do you speak spanish? Are you adopted? I was surprised to find out I mean you don't…Continue

My biggest struggle is... my bad english. Even that I was born in the United States my english is not as fluent as I wish. Most of my life I was in Mexico, but my school was bilingual and since kindergarten they were teaching us english. When I came to El Paso for college I was able to understand it, but it was so hard for me to communicate. I felt so tiny in a place where everyone was so good on the language and…Continue
