Day of the Dead started as a way to celebrate and embrace the dead.
Calavera poems are short poems recited on Day of the Dead that take a humorous approach on the holiday. It is an imaginary obituary in which someone or something still living or deceased is poked fun at. They describe qualities or funny stories we remember about the deceased and those still alive.
