Friends, old ones, new ones, black ones, blue ones, white ones, brown ones, friends, who? Friends are something that I have always had in my life and have held close and dear to my heart. As graduation comes around I can't help but think of even more friends that I will take a step away from because I won't be around as often but I do hope to keep in touch with. Our relationships are always changing but I've learned that friendships are what you make of them. You can have great friends but that's if you put in the work, effort, respect, kindness, and all the things it takes to have a great friendship. At the chica power fest the girls were told to write ingredients for friendship and as a I sat trying to help my group I found it so hard for me to even think how I would measure the ingredients that I would include in my friendships. I thought that it was so easy to come up with the types of good friends you wanted and the qualities you wanted them to have but the amount just seemed so much harder. It's great knowing that I'm not having to make a list of ingredients but rather making friends and knowing which ones are good for me and not so good have made me who I am today. Friends aren't hard to come by but the great ones are so that is why like the Latinitas symbol of a butterfly you must catch this beautiful creature, hold on to it, be gentle with it, care for it, appreciate it's beauty, don't keep it caged up, treat it with respect, help it spread it's wings, and FLY!
