Of course, this is a girl’s space, but it is also Father’s Day, so let’s take this time to talk about dads...not just dads though, how ‘bout any wise male figures in our lives who have impacted our lives for the better. Maybe he is someone who is always there to make you laugh when you need it most. Maybe he is not the best listener but will always try to hear you out. Maybe he is that person who had faith in you even when you didn’t have faith in yourself. No matter what’s special about these men in our lives, it’s worth showing appreciation for!
For me, I’ve got my dad, and I am so lucky to be able to say that he is someone who has always shown support and love for my mom and me. There are so many more great things I could say about dear old Dad, but instead I think I’ll just share this memory that I have always cherished…
When I was around the ages of six and seven my family lived in Seattle, Washington and we lived fairly close to the beach - maybe a 20 minute drive or so. Some evenings when the weather seemed just right, my dad and I would head over to the beach for a little while. After years and years these memories have grown hazy but what I do remember is that the sand and water were pretty chilly, the sunsets were beautiful, and my dad and I always had good conversation. I can’t remember for the life of me what we would talk about and I don’t think it matters now. What does matter is that Dad wanted me to be happy in those moments (and for as many moments in my life as possible), and I definitely was. Thank you Dad!
