Interviewing some of you Latinitas on the election of Barack Obama I heard a lot of news-feed feedback that this was a momentous occasion because we have elected the first African American president to the United States. Some answered a little to robotically and I was hoping that Latinitas would think even deeper about this day - about inclusivity. For so long government has been top heavy with old white guys and though some have our best interests at heart - no one knows a culture, a gender, a race like those who walk in those shoes everyday. Barack not only means a change in the face of leadership, but he is also opening more doors to women, Latinos, and other minorities to the highest levels of government in his appointments and in his role-modeling. He also never fails to hail his wife and daughters - where Bush referred to wife, Laura, one time as the lump next to him in the bed, you can tell Michelle Obama is going to be as an important figure to the country has her husband.
