Hillary Clinton paved the way for women to run for the highest office in this country. But, looking at the sexist media coverage of her campaign just reinforced that the glass ceiling still exists for women in the U.S.A. Whether you call yourself a feminist or not, you probably can't deny that the media treated Hillary differently than her male counterparts. She was scrutinized for her voice, emotions and fashion style. When she spoke firmly with confidence, she was attacked as a B@&%! When she got teary eyed in an emotional moment, she was made fun of for being too weak. When she discussed her lifetime of public service, her experience was ignored. When she made advances in the polls, the focus was shifted to criticizing her wardrobe. When she made profound arguments in debates, her insight was minimized as annoying nagging. I was saddened to see that sexism still plays a role in American politics. I have a dream that one day we will break this glass ceiling. I have a dream that one day I will see a Latinita as president of the United States of America.
