Latinitas - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

This past weekend I attended a Peace Rally in Downtown El Paso to help promote Latinitas. During the rally, Latinitas was asked to have an activity for the attendees. Latinitas decided to make a peace quilt. The peace quilt consisted of small foam squares in which people were asked to draw or write something that reminded them of the word "peace." Through this fun and engaging activity, I learned about the many interpretations that people have about the word "peace." Some people drew pictures of doves while others wrote the word "peace" in some form or fashion. There were other people who wrote quotes from the Bible and drew the cross of Jesus Christ. These different interpretations all contributed to a colorful quilt that helped send the message of peace. Although the people did have different interpretations, they all seemed to have something in common. All these people wanted peace. We all need peace in order to live with hope and tranquility. By wanting peace and living in peace, we can all live in harmony with one other. Regardless of interpretation, one thing is certain, we all are looking for peace.
