Just in time for the country's election, our club at Irving Schwartz library learned what the process of electing a president actually means. More than ever, it is important for everyone who is eligible to vote, regardless of their political beliefs cast their ballots and make their constitutionally given voices heard. With a more dynamic demographic, this is even more true for Latinitas young and old. To explore the importance of voting and staying on top of the issues for a given election, the girls thought about what they would do if they were President of the United States. We thought about funny things we would do as well as more serious topics we would address. Here are the journals for the two "candidates" we had this week:
If she were President, Monique said she would:
*have a big jacuzzi,
*have a big house,
*have an indoor swimming pool to have fun.
She would also work to stop child and animal abuse.
As President, Yasmin said:
My birthday will be everyday. I will have lots of shoes.
The earth will be peaceful and there will be no more bullying.
