The use of the term "The Real World" is thrown around like if it were candy.

My memory goes as far back as my 8th grade graduation when people were asking me if I was ready to enter the last chapter of my life before going into the “real world”—high school.

What exactly is this “real world” you talk about?

The cap and gown hanging in my closet during my senior year told me graduation would open the door to a new world with many responsibilities. My peers and I would face new obstacles—alright-- but are they the ones that defined the “real world”?

I am only asking this because now it’s my fourth year in college and, soon, I will be graduating AGAIN! This is the realest my world has felt… ever. Having to get a “big girl” job, pay student loans, go to bed early. Oh, the agony!

But is this really what lays ahead of me in the real, real world?

Because there’s a hint of relief that lays deep in my gut, telling me there is no such thing as the “real world”.

The real world is an umbrella term that is used to inflict anxiety in people who are opening a new door, flipping to a different chapter, slowly breathing in a fresh atmosphere.

The real world is enduring something unforeseen, tackling obstacles that you have not been challenged to before.

One day waking up and realizing there’s a detour in your path, something beautiful that happens with age and we learn through trial and error.

The real world is actually just life.

I love your ending; "the real work is actually just life."

Yes, that's exactly what it is and I guess we shouldn't fear "the real world" because we're already living in it!
