LatinitasMagazine.org - A Strong Voice for Latina Youth

This is a blog post dedicated to my adorable, spoiled brat, Bella.

Bella is my miniature poodle, whom I did not name after the Twilight series. She lives back home in El Paso with my parents. I have had Bella since December 2006. I got her as a present for my 16th birthday, and have loved her unconditionally since she popped out of the gift box my parents managed to keep her in for all of 15 seconds.

Back then Bella fit in the palm of my hands. I don't have puppy pictures of her with me, because they're all back home in El Paso. But I do have pictures of her that I took with my phone. You can find them below.

But first, a little bit about Bella. She is brilliant and energetic and does absolutely whatever she wants (usually nothing bad), until she hears anger in your voice, then she obeys. She is very well-behaved, and loves attention. I've been away from home since 2009 and I miss her more and more every day. I thought it would get easier, but lately I find myself texting my parents to send me pictures of her. That has a lot to do with how stressed I am lately, because seeing a picture of her instantly puts a smile on my face.

Bella is feisty and stubborn, but also extremely loving and a huge cuddler. If she wants you to pet her, she'll stick her nose under your hand and slide her head under it, until you pet her. She barks at virtually anything unfamiliar, and if she wants you to do something for her (feed her, go to sleep, take her outside), she barks once, lightly, and uses her body to tell you what she wants. She's like a human sometimes, and everyone who meets her comments on her big personality.

My graduation from university is now only a month away. My future is uncertain, but one thing is for sure, I will love baby Bella forever.

Bella watching me on my bed.

Bella thinks my pillow is hers. She watches me work on my laptop until she falls asleep.

This picture was taken during spring break when the jumping balloon for my cousin's birthday was being set up. I had to carry her to keep her from barking at the men who were working. It didn't keep her from keeping a close eye on them!

Bella is always up and about, but she needs her downtime too. I took this as she prepped for a nap.

Tell me more about your pets! What kind do you have and what makes them special?

Omg Linda! That is an especially cute picture of your kitties! I hope this post turns into all the Latinitas with pets posting pictures of their furry (or scaly, or feathery!) friends. ^.^

My entire family says Bella is just like me too! Stubborn, bossy, loving but feisty. Or as I like to call it: Queen behavior. Duh! hehe

Your dog is so cute! Of course, I already knew that since you've shown me pictures of her before! :P

Obviously, you already know about my two kitty babies, Tom-Tom and Walter! My bellygirl, Tom-Tom is a two-year-old blue tabby and my Wally is a one-year-old white and orange tabby. Both were adopted from animal shelters in Austin when they were just a couple of months old. My boyfriend and I got Tom-Tom first in 2011 and Walter a year later to keep her company. They love each other, play and sleep all the time!

What I think is funny is that my bellygirl is so much like me, always napping and acting like a bossy princess. Haha! Walter, is more like my boyfriend... super active and silly.

Here's a picture of them being super cute!

They're really special to me because they're so loving, make me laugh and cheer me up!
