Sometimes we think Valentine's Day is just for couples, married couples, or celebrating romantic love.
In reality, this holiday was established in 496 AD! This very old tradition was mean to celebrate any type
of special relationship that we have with people. Yes, that includes friendship, friends, and any love and care
you can have for a person. You do not have to be older or in a romantic relationship to celebrate it.
When I was younger, I remember buying valentine cards for all of my friends and giving them out with
maybe that bigger valentine for that boy I sort of had a crush on. Silly, I know, but we can all relate to something
similar to this. Throughout the years I've tried to keep up with giving valentines and having thoughtfulness for this holiday. This year, I bought each one of my three roommate a chocolate covered strawberry and thanked them for being great roommates and loving friends. I definitely do not think Valentine's Day is just for couples, we should
take the time to celebrate our friendships and the relationships we have with people that mean the most to us. After all,
thats what "El Dia del Amor y La Amistad" means. A day to celebrate love and friendship.
I leave you girls with this photograph from 1910!
Happy Valentines Day!
